AMY BRODERSEN has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a judge in the 1st Judicial Circuit, which is made up of Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties. Brodersen, of Pensacola. has served as an Escambia County judge since 2016.
JAMES MOODY III has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a judge in the 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County. Moody, of Plant City, has served as a Hillsborough County judge since 2020.
DARREN SHULL has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County. Shull, of Tequesta, has been a partner and director for the Law Offices of Darren D. Shull, P.A. since 2006.
FRANCIS VIAMONTES has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a judge in the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County. Viamontes, of Plantation, has served as an assistant United States attorney and chief of the narcotics and violent crimes section for the Southern District of Florida since 2011.
ALBERT MAURY has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Maury, of Coral Gables, is president and chief executive officer of Leon Medical Centers, LLC.
CAITIE MUNOZ AND TRIMMEL GOMES have been elected to leadership positions with the First Amendment Foundation. Munoz, who will chair the foundation’s Board of Trustees, is a lead producer for WLRN Public Media's public-affairs program Sundial. Gomes, who will serve as vice-chairman, is president of Gomes Media Strategies.
KAYLA POE has joined Sachs Media. Poe, who will work as an account executive in Jacksonville, previously worked as a news producer at WJAX-TV.
ABBY VAIL has been named managing partner of the Tallahassee office of Ballard Partners. Vail joined the firm in 2020.
CHRISTIAN ULVERT, NICHOLAS HESSING, STEVE VANCORE, ERIC JOHNSON, STEPHANIE BROMFIELD, CLAIRE VANSUSTEREN AND MICHAEL WORLEY have been named to positions on the re-election campaign of state Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book, D-Plantation. Ulvert, who will serve as a general consultant, is founder and president of EDGE Communications. Hessing, who will serve as campaign manager, has worked as an aide to state Rep. Robin Bartleman, D-Weston. Vancore, who will serve as a senior adviser, is president of VancoreJones Communications and Clearview Research. Johnson, who will serve as an adviser, heads Johnson Strategies. Bromfield, who will serve as a campaign adviser, is a former producer for CBS. VanSusteren, who will serve as communications adviser, is founder and president of CVS COMMS. Worley, who will work on digital and direct mail, is president of MDW Communications.
CATALINA AVALOS has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a Broward County judge. Avalos, of Pembroke Pines, has been a director at Tripp Scott, P.A. since 2009.
LAUREN BURKE AND JAMES SHERMAN have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as Palm Beach County judges. Burke, of Delray Beach, has served as an assistant state attorney in the 15th Judicial Circuit since 2005. Sherman, of Royal Palm Beach, has served as a senior attorney for the South Florida Water Management District since 2018.
