Rep. Ralph Massullo, R-Lecanto, and Rep. Erin Grall, R-Vero Beach, have drawn new challengers as they run for re-election in 2022, while additional candidates have emerged to try to replace Rep. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, and Rep. Kamia Brown, D-Ocoee. Democrat Nancy Sue Pierson opened a campaign account Monday to try to unseat Massullo in what is now House District 34 in Citrus and Hernando counties, according to the state Division of Elections website. Massullo and Republican Paul John Reinhardt also have open accounts for the race. Meanwhile, Republican Robert Austin Brackett has opened an account to run against Grall in what is now House District 54 in Indian River and St. Lucie counties. Also, Republican Anthony Kocovic has opened an account to try to succeed Ingoglia, who is running for the Senate, in what is now Hernando County’s House District 35. Republican Jeff Holcomb also is in the District 35 race. In Orange County, Democrat LaVon Bracy Davis has opened an account to try to succeed Brown, who is running for the Senate, in what is now House District 45. Also in the District 45 race are Democrats Charles Law Jr. and Melissa Myers. District boundaries --- and potentially numbers --- will change before the 2022 elections because of the once-a-decade reapportionment process.
