The races to replace Rep. Tracie Davis, D-Jacksonville, and Rep. Rene Plasencia, R-Orlando, continue to get more crowded. Jacksonville Republican Jordan Wells opened a campaign account Thursday to try to succeed Davis next year in what is now Duval County’s House District 13, according to the state Division of Elections website. Wells joined Democrats Garrett Dennis, Iris Hinton and Mincy Pollock in the race. Davis is running for a Senate seat in 2022. Meanwhile, Orlando Democrat Rishi Singh Bagga opened an account to try to succeed Plasencia in what is now House District 50 in Orange and Brevard counties. Bagga joined Democrat Tom Keen and Republicans Richard Furman, Robyn Hattaway, Angel Perry, Christopher Wright and Yukong Zhao in the race. Plasencia is term-limited in the House district and running for a Senate seat next year. District boundaries --- and potentially numbers --- will change before the 2022 elections because of the once-a-decade reapportionment process.
