Lunch Briefs: Education Records Sought | School Book Rules Challenged

A Washington, D.C-based group filed a lawsuit Thursday alleging that the Florida Department of Education has not complied with a series of public-records requests about high-profile issues.

The Florida Education Association teachers union and two other groups said Friday they have filed a challenge against the state Department of Education over new rules related to school books.

A federal judge has scheduled a “change of plea” hearing Tuesday in the case of former state Rep. Joe Harding, who was indicted in an alleged scheme to defraud the Small Business Administration and obtain coronavirus-related business loans.
